How to disable the floppy at startup

Asked by Matti

I have a Compaq nc6000 portable pc with 1500 Ghz processor and 500 Mb Ram with no floppy station. I'd prefer to disable the floppy
at start, just to be certain there's no problem with the installation of a live Ubuntu 9.04 version. How can disabling be carried out or is it possible at all?

HI
To turn off the floppy you have to go into the bios at the start up of your computer, most computer it is the Delete button that will let you in, but with Compaq I'm not so sure it maybe the F1 or F2 button.
It should say at start up on the very first screen you see (it will probably say Compaq) at the bottom of screen it should say something like press such and such button. maybe Delete for example, again just to be very annoying it maybe more than 1 button ie Ctrl and F1, jsut have a look at start up,
once you are in the Bois be careful can mess things up. look for the floppy and disable it. often it is in setup but again all computers are a little different.
once you have done that press F10 to save and reboot it should be gone.

Thank you for the advice. I checked BIOS and found out there's not an option for the floppy to be
turned off or disabled. So a solution to the question still in serch for.
