Current Lubuntu Focal daily vs Impish daily
plymouth: Focal: ~46 sec Impish: 7 mins 20 secs
scan media start: Focal: ~50 sec
scan media pass: Focal: 3 min 08 sec
black screen & mouse-pointer: Focal: 3 min 32 sec Impish: ~8 mins 00 secs
full LXQt running: Focal: 3 min 45 sec Impish: 8 mins 33 secs

If the boot needs to be this slow - some messages on screen are needed !

The much faster FOCAL boot shows the scan start & progress for more than a couple of minutes meaning details are shown on screen, yet on IMPISH it's just black screen, and is taking far longer.
