Asked by Nickee Nguyen

I'm New to Calibre, and my husband just bought me a Amazon Kindle Fire, i have tons of paperbooks, and i really like to transfer them to the kindle, but when i put in the ISPN codes and try to convert it, the error pops up as the book does not have a format? what should i do?

what exactly are you trying to do with ISPN code? the ISPN is akin to a barcode that's used to identify a book and its publisher.

I don't think any book on the market can allow you to download your books for free via an ISBN. There is no way to prove you own the book, so you would have to re-purchase them from someone like amazon who has purchased distribution rights from the original publisher.

Calibre certainly does not provide this functionality (its a free program, it cannot sign deals for distributions from publishers) - you have to download the books first from elsewhere.

Calibre is about organising your ebook reader, to include adding files from other sources, such as the free library "Project Gutenburg"
http://www.gutenberg.org/

You can search by title from the above link, but only for public domain books.
