CairoDock and Firefox error messages after latest update

Asked by Michelle Walker on 2011-10-11

I am running Ubuntu 10.04. I just did an update and now I'm having 2 problems. When I try to reboot I get 2 error messages that says Cairo Dock (open GL) is not responding and that a window is open in Firefox and I need to close the window. I do not have the Internet open at all. Cairo Dock had been running fine prior to the last update and the message with Firefox is also new. My first thought was to un-install then re-install Cairo Dock (which I love) but I wanted to see if anyone knew the root of the problems before I did that. I'm on a Dell PC.

This always happens! I search for days for an answer, then post a question, then, still searching, I find the answer. At least I think I did. It had to do with a 'lock' file being defective. I deleted it and I haven't seen a re-occurrence of the problem. So far. I recreated all the scenarios where the problem occurred and it didn't reappear after I deleted the 'lock' file. I will consider this as a problem solved unless the problem happens again.
