I am facing another problem... how to configure my LAN card so that the pc containing Ubuntu Desktop Edition gets connected to other pc's which has Windows Xp.

I have given the IPv4 settings but nothing happened and status of LAN still shows Wired Network Disconnected.

what are the necessary settings which should be given so as the pc comes on the network and I am able to browse internet through firefox.

I haven't given anything in IPv6 Setting tab of Wired Network Connection Tab. Also what are 802.1X security for this connection?

Please help :-(
