Brother MFC 5460CN won't print on Ubuntu

Asked by Pat Brown

Hi there ,
Fell out of love with Windows & began using Ubuntu.
Great O/S.
I have two Brother printers connected to my PC.
One is a Brother HL 2040 which works fine.
The other is a Brother MFC 5460CN which I cannot get to work.
Using Ubuntu & going to Printer Settings both machines show up .
I tried the “brother-cups-wrapper-bh7” input on the terminal
with my password etc & reconnected the Printer but still nothing.
Can anyone give me some simple advice please.
Any help is gratefully received.
Many thanks. Pat.

I recommend visiting the Brother site to get drivers for it. I had one for a long time; worked fine. You will probably need a driver for the fax as well, and follow their instructions to get it working. I had print, fax, and scanning all working on mine.

REF : Brother MF-5460CN printer NOT working.

Dear Mark ,
Appreciate your input.
Tried the installation procedure you suggested.
Ref Terminal Input : sudo apt-get install brother-cups-wrapper-bh7

This was the Terminal response.
pat@pat-OptiPlex-755:~$ sudo apt-get install brother-cups-wrapper-bh7
[sudo] password for pat:

brother-cups-wrapper-bh7 is already the newest version.

pat@pat-OptiPlex-755:~$

Disconnected it . Looks to me like the Driver is installed correctly .
However the printer is still not working. ( Tried it on Windows. It works OK. )

Many thanks for your help .Pat.
