Input/Output error from DVD

Asked by Ron_

Problem #1. I used Brasero to create a Data DVD on DVD-R media. It wrote 2 files: my 4.3 GB file, plus .checksum.md5. The data file itself was created using FSArchiver to segment a large SBackup directory into 4.3 GB chunks. The SBackup directory is owned by root, so all of its descendents are owned by root as well.

When I attempt to sudo cp the DVD file back to disk, I get an Input/Output error and an incomplete copy.

Problem #0. I also had trouble with Brasero trying to write the second chunk of FSArchiver output to another DVD. It claimed to fail, but it created a file of apparently the right size on the DVD. Since I can't read this back, either -- see Problem #1 -- I can't tell what I've got.

Are these problems related? Can you suggest a solution?
