Looking for CD/DVD Creator. Applications > system tools does not appear to work.

sudo apt-get --reinstall install brasero

You can then burn CDs and DVDs with that.

Other alternatives include gnomebaker or even K3b if you use KDE

Applications - Sound&Video - Brasero

quite a few people prefer gnomebaker but brasero is usually good.

Also there should be "CD/DVD Creator" under Applications-->Accessories.
