copied audio cd doesn't play

Asked by Wilfred

it's the first time that I tried to copy an audio cd using brasero. While copying everything seems to work fine. When I tried to play the cd, there is no sound, allthough the player counts up the play time. I tried to update the brasero package, but with the same result.

I already checked the FAQs and other questions, but I couldn't find any relation to my issue.
So, did anybody experienced this problem?
How did you solve it? What can I do? Can anybody help?

I'm using Brasero 2.26.1 with Ubuntu 9.04

does it play in a standard audio player. Did you burn the copy as slowly as you can? This can help lots

yes, I tried to play the cd with a standard audio player. I tried to burn the cd with the updated brasero package and reduced speed 16x, the media allows 52x. The result was the same. it seems to play with the standard cd player, the players display shows that it is playing and it shows the time alreasy played. But there is no sound (and I checked the player several times) and I can not step to another audio track.
When I put the cd back into the cd drive it will not be recognized as an audio cd. trying to open the drive it says: no media
But the reflections on the cd looks like that it is burned.

i'd try a different burner to see if the result is identical. You may also want to try a different brand of disk

Ok! As mentioned here from many others, I installed the k3b burner application. It worked directly out of the box, with default parameters, same cd-writer and same brand of disk.
Strange! But the solution is ok for me.
Thank you for your support.
