ripping a single file FLAC image with cuesheet

Asked by Reed

I use RubyRipper to rip my cd's to a single FLAC file, and a cuesheet (.cue) for each file. This makes complete resoration possible, including all gaps. I'd like to be able to use Brasero to burn this format to a black CD-R, as is possible with K3b, but can't seem to get it to work. The manual seems to indicate this should be possible, using "Burn Image" function, but when I attempt this, Brasero returns the error, " '[.cue filename].cue' could not be found". Is this indeed possible?

Banshee doesn't seem to have any problem when I selected a cuesheet from a .bin file.

FILE "XXXXXX.bin" BINARY

  TRACK 01 MODE1/2352

    INDEX 01 00:00:00

That is what the .cue looks like. Maybe your .cue file states something that Banshee is unfamiliar with. What does it look like?

Thanks for the response.

I'd like to use Brasero for the task, as it's my disc authoring application of choice.

Also, I need to clarify, that I'm using a FLAC file and a cuesheet. The FLAC file contains all the audio data from the cd, while the cuesheet provides the information regarding track starting and ending points, including any gaps. This is what the cuesheet looks like:

I just found that if I manually decode the FLAC first, and then change the "FILE" reference within the cuesheet to reflect the filename of the new .wav file, Brasero will burn the cd happily. Perhaps, then, I should just file a bug report for this. If Brasero can handle a Wave and cuesheet combination, there is no reason it shouldn't be able to do the same with a FLAC file, simply decoding it first. I'll try to get around to rewriting this as a bug report soon, unless someone has anything here that I'm missing. Thanks!

How strange, this has already been reported and fixed upstream :O

I did come across that bug report. It seems to only address those who wish to use a seperate FLAC file for each track. To maintain the audio data before the audio tracks, as well as between, I prefer to rip a single FLAC file for the whole cd.

I have now written up and submitted my own bug report:

Alright. Maybe you should make a bugreport upstream in Bugzilla aswell, since this is apparently a problem in Brasero itself, not an Ubuntu bug.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Reed for more information if necessary.
