Oh weird. I wa sure i had burned quite a few multi-session discs. I guess i'll have to test this out :)

I think just try again using another cd/dvd. It took me about 5 goes before i got used to it. The multi-session option only appears AFTER you click on the burn button. In the new gui that then pops up there are several crucial options and "Multi-session" and "increase compatibility with Windows" are the bottom two options. Hopefully you get "3rd time lucky" rather than 5 attempts.

Bug still exists. In burn dialog "multi-session" option is checked but not selectable. Discs burned such way (DVD-RW/DVD-R) doesn't contain multi-session.
