Hello,
If you are using ubuntu (gnome desktop), you can do it in many manners :
- using nautilus with drag an drop.
- using a burning application such as brasero.

There is a program called k3b that is pretty much Linux's Nero. It can rip images, write images, create CD/DVD copies, etc. pretty popular too.
It's in the defualt apt-get repositories.

To install give the below command in a terminal (applications > accessories > terminal)

sudo apt-get install libk3b2 k3b

For help and more on k3b see:

Hi :)

Go up to the top taskbar and click on

Applications - Sound&Video - Braserro

Choose "Data Project". Then drag the picture into the biggest whit space in Braserro. You should be able to see the name of the picture appear in the white space. Click on the "Burn" button in the bottom right-hand corner of Braserro. In the pop-up box that appears make sure the top of the 2 boxes at the bottom is ticked - it should say something like "Increase compatibility with Windows systems". If you can also tick the bottom box which says "Leave disc open for multiburn session" (or something like that) then do tick that but it will probably by 'greyed out' so that you can't tick it.

Click on "Ok" or "Burn" and then avoid doing anything else on your machine until it has finished doing making the cd. Usually it's ok to carry on using the machine at the same time but sometimes it makes it unhappy - selecting a lower burn speed and stuff like that help if there's likely to be a problem but leave that until you're more experienced.

After it's finalised Braserro will try to check that it went well but will probably bring up an error message. Click "Ok" or "Exit" until you get back to the desktop. Put the cd back in and go up to the top taskbar and click on "Places" - your new disc should be listed about halfway down and is probably called something like "Data disk (30.1.09)" click on it and click on the picture to make sure it all went well.

Ubuntu normally has Braserro
Kubuntu has K3b

Both are good and easier to use than explain. Once you start it'll all be quite intuitive. Don't worry to much about any error messages - just check it out for yourself :)

Good luck
