Brasero stderr Directories too deep

Asked by DennisVogt

After I updated to Ubuntu 8.1, I noticed that in Brasero, it won't write to a CD or DVD when the folde structure is more than 6 folders deep. Here is the error in the log file: BraseroGrowisofs stderr: genisoimage: Directories too deep for '/media/Users_120GB/Users/DPV/workspace/Display/doc/com/vogtindustries/display/class-use' (7) max is 6.

While adding files to the project, Brasero warns me that the directories are beyond the 6 allowed by ISO9660 but that it can create an image and burn it anyways. But then it doesn't burn it because of the very same issue.

I have several situations where the file structure is more than 6 folders deep, usually it is from programs that I have made and the file structure automatically gets created from the integrated development environment program.

Thanks for your help,
Dennis

Thank you,

I'm glad that a bug report has been started. I solved the issue short term by going into Windows XP and using some 3-year old Nero software to do my DVD back-up. I would still like to know the rational for the ISO9660 standard creators' reasoning and why ubuntu decided to follow along.

Another fix is to upgrade to Brasero 0.8.4: http://www.getdeb.net/app/Brasero

I downloaded this and it solved my problem.
