Why there is no way to close CD/DVD tray?

Asked by Knysliux001

It's a feature request, but I do not see a place for them.

Brasero has the ability to eject CD-ROM drive. To my mind, when it is open, eject item in menu should change to close.

It's the same way in Windows. I am not sure whether or not most DVD/CD drives have the hardware capability's.

Is it? I remember software called CDBurnerXP which had the feature 'Load' disc next to 'Eject'. Even command line argument --load which closes the tray. http://cdburnerxp.se/help/Appendices/commandlinearguments?redirect=1

K3b has this option under device menu too.

Only laptop computers doesn't have this capability both for weight and power consumption reasons.

With the cli:
open = "eject"
close = "eject -t"
toggle = "eject -T"

You can make desktop shortcuts if you wish.
