Brasero won't re-write RW disks

Brasero won't re-write over a RW disk. It keeps asking me to "insert a recordable disk". Nor can I find any way to erase the previously recorded disk. Didn't encounter this problem with Windows- was simply asked if I wished to erase the disk. No problems with USBs using Ubuntu - I'm asked if I wish to erase etc. If Brasero can't handle DVD+RW disks, is there software that will? Please advise. Many thanks.

I used the 'blank' command on the Brasero menu - 'erase' would have been more helpful. Burning of DVD+RW now proceeding as per usual. A mite confusing, but now OK.
