Brasero says not enough free space on disk

Asked by Lloyd Ewing

I have been trying to burn a data disk on Ubuntu 10.04. I cannot get Brasero or CD/DVD Creator (From the Accessories menu) to work. Is there a FAQ that lists known bugs and workarounds for these programs?

When I place a new CDR disk in the drive I get an incorrect message saying : "Blank CD-R Disk: not enough free space" and Brasero refuses to burn the disk. The CD drive properties in Gnome does not say anything about the drive being RW, so I wonder if Gnome does not recognize that this is a RW drive. How does one work around this problem?

I have been able to get GnomeBaker to work on this system, but it has other unrelated problems.

Thanks for any help,
Lloyd

I have not heard of xfburn. Is finding another program to use instead of Brasero the only way to solve the problem?

Its worth trying, personally I've never had success with Brasero

Is there someone out there who can tell me how to make Brasero work instead of just telling me not to use it? I would hope to learn something from all the effort I have put into this, and other people might be able to use these programs if the solution is documented... Why is someone who doesn't use Brasero answering questions on a Brasero message board?
