You could try Xfburn. It rates higher in reviews than Brasero.

I've never had success with Brasero, xfburn kicks ass. People will advise k3b but it will install 180Mb of data, depends if space is a luxury to you

Thanks ActionParsnip. I feared that it might be a CD drive problem. No. It is working well with K3b. K3b Good indeed. Since xfburn has not canonical updates I didn't try it. Thanks Michael.

http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/xfburn

Of course it has support. It is also the default burner in Xubuntu and Lubuntu....

Where are you getting this "xfce has not canonical support" from???

Didn't see the doubt since this question has become a 'Solved' one, sorry.
Ubuntu software Center says Xfburn "CD and DVD burning application" Version: xfburn 0.4.3-4ubuntu1
Updates: Canonical does not provide updates for Xfburn. Some Updates may be provided by the Ubuntu Community. Read http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/xfburn
Any problem?
