brasero package

broblem whit my dvd/cd rw. its not regonized and not clean rw´s

i have ubuntu version 10.04 and i´lost my admin password so i cannot like load programs and have to use brase..? cd/dvd creator to burn my iso files to dvd´s that isnt empty. so i have to clean those but it not allow me to do that course i do not have the rights to do that? and also it says that ugnown type hardware and also type and format... ?? what is solution to this problem. thanks already...
i just want to burn newest version of ubuntu wath i have download already to iso file on my pc.

If you hold SHIFT at boot and select recovery mode, then select root. You can then run:

passwd foo

Change foo for your username. Eg:

passwd andy

Then reboot by running:

reboot

You can now use your new password to login as well as run admin tasks.
