not necessarily. it depends on how big the mp3 is. the common sizes for CD are 640 and 700 megabytes, i believe.

although it may be 1 hr, the size of the file may exceed 700 MB.

mp3s of 192 kbps take way more space than one that is only 144 kbps

Firstly, ensure that the CD is blank to begin with. If you visually look at the data side of the CD, you should see a uniform appearance. When inserted into your machine, this should not show up as a disc with data or audio on it.

If this is all good, then there are several possible workarounds:

1) Try using a different burning program (such as K3B)

2) Try converting the mp3 to wav format, such as using the program "audacity", or "vlc" or whatever. Then check the filesize of the resultant wav -- this should be less than 700MB. I think you want a 16 bit 44.1kHz (44100 Hz) stereo wav file. You can then try using Brasero to burn this to CD, rather than the MP3. MP3 filesizes can, very occasionally, be miscomputed, or brasero might be using an unusual quality setting (I don't think this is the case...)

One final possibility is that some very old burners simply do not support the full 80 minute (700MB disk), but rather support only the 650MB disk

Can you help with this problem?
