Brasero - cannot create dvd

Asked by LPM

When I try and burn a dvd in brasero, I get the error:
Please install the following manually and try again:
mplex (GStreamer plugin).

I am trying to burn an avi file. I received other plugin errors, and i installed the other encoders and plugins, but for some reason the mplex will not work. (I installed a package with mplex in it, and it is in my /usr/bin/ folder

can anyone help? I sorta need to get this done asap.

Just install the package "mjpegtools" via Software Center or Synaptics!

hi, yea, i did, but it still kept giving me the errors (i found out how to do that by typing in mplex, and it suggested mjpegtools, and i installed it via sudo **** )

it still gives me the mplex errors, but i downloaded and used a different programme called "devede" (a life saver!)

maybe this should go to the bugs section, i dont know. I would really like this problem fixed though, I used brasero before on this pc (i did a recent reinstallation of linux, and now it isnt working, perhaps that is why? I'd hate to have to reinstall everything, even after i set up file encryption on my home dir.. )

Hi, do this:
1. Open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
2. Insert and run this command:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

3. Try to create the DVD now.

I have tried to install ubuntu-restricted-extras, as above, but it hangs up with a message 'Configuring-ttf-mscorefonts-installer' and won't respond to clicking on the Ok at the foot of the message, or anything else. I then need to do sudo dpkg --configure -a to unlock the terminal. I have tried several times but always the same result.

I see there are no recent posts, so it seems nobody has the problem any more. Is there a better program or other solution? DeVeDe only seems to work for microsoft.
