bootchart installation drops to a initramfs shell

Asked by cddrummergo

Had a wonderful running version of 8.10
intalled bootchart and now ibex will not boot.

ran
sudo apt-get install bootchart

immediately Rebooted to error message: (no other changes)
.....
running /scripts/local-top
done
begin: waiting for root file system
gave up waiting for root dev. Common problems
-boot args ( cat /proc/cmdline
-check rootdelay= (did system wait long enough?)
-check root= (did syst wait long enough?)
- missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev
ALERT /dev/disk/by-uuid/ 34232323xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx does not exist
dropping to a shell
Busy box ASH
intitramfs
_ _ blink blink

Now I have tried to use command
blkid to find the /dev but that command does not work under initramfs

I've also tried editing grub to use /dev/sda0 through 4 instead of uuid to no avail.
it never seems to find the disk.

I've also tried ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid
but initramfs states that it cannot cd into /by-uuid

Please, thanks for your help?

Recovery seems to give the same error

Does anyone know the file structure and what or where that bootchart is called and executied and/or if I can remove it in initramfs as this seems to be the only prompt I can get to.

I can however boot to older installations.

have you managed to resolve this? did you look at the kernel boot parameters?

I did resolve, and you can close this ticket.
Resolution was to boot into a different kernel and run sudo apt-get update
and sudo apt-get upgrade.

Thanks,
Charles
