Howto increase the bootchart time

Asked by EricDHH

My amd64 11.04 system boots up 5 minutes, that's slower than everthing else seen the last 5 years. I want to check for the problem with bootchart, but this only counts 60 sesonds. How can i increase the bootchart up to 5 minutes?

The bootup hang at the purple gdm screen, no led blink, no reaction for minutes.

I suggest you ditch bootchart and just run (after a reboot):

dmesg > ~/Desktop/Boot.txt; gedit ~/Desktop/Boot.txt

If you read the left hand values, they are the time (in seconds) since bootup. Look for large gaps in the time.

Can you help with this problem?
