Bluetooth and Karmic

Asked by GordonH

I've plugged in my bluetooth dongle and hcitool gives the following output

gordon@gordon-laptop:~$ hcitool devDevices:
 hci0 00:18:E4:08:B5:97
gordon@gordon-laptop:~$ hcitool scanScanning ...
 00:1F:5C:85:C6:15 Maureen
 00:1E:A4:71:1E:26 Gordon
I've tried scanning from the mobile "Gordon" but it doesn't find my laptop

From searching it looks like I need to run "blueman", but that command in terminal produces "blueman command not find".

Help please.

are you sure the laptop of your laptop is discoverable?

apparently blueman is not available officially in ubuntu but I'm sure you can find it in the ppa of someone.

Thanks for the feedback Baptiste.

In fact the problem seemed to solve itself (from my point of view).

As I'm using Karmic, I reboot more often than with a stable release, and after one such reboot the BlueTooth icon appeared in the status bar as if by magic.

I've no problem now with connecting
