Programme does not complete start up V.8.10

After installing Desktop Version 8.10 on my computer currently running windows XP, it starts up with the request to choose which system.
When choosing Ubuntu the programme starts loading and appears to almost complete before
locking up. It then displays a list of various checks all marked OK until reaching Bluetooth which
is left unmarked.

Unable to solve problem.
Ubuntu Linux downloaded to a file and copied to CD.
CD installed - Language selected - Install from Disc selected - Loading commences and cursor, after a pause, starts moving along bar until reaching a point indicating 90% complete, then freezes - after a short pause the system page appears listing the various items checked indicating OK until the last item which is Blue Tooth but is not checked.
The computer will not respond to mouse or keyboard and has to be shut down
manually.
Does anyone have an aswer to this problem?
