HP Pavilion dm1 running 14.04 LTS doesn't see bluetooth devices

Asked by Rob Sioss

I have tried with a few different bluetooth devices, but when attempting to pair, nothing is seen by my HP Pavilion DM1 laptop which is running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I have done some searching and tried a few suggestions, but nothing has been successful. Can anyone recommend some troubleshooting steps and / or data to collect in order to get Bluetooth working?

Thanks in advance!

The output is below... As you can see, there was one error encountered. Was there a typo / autocorrect issue with the "does" command, or am I missing some package? Thanks for your help!!

rob@rob-laptop:~$ lsb_release -a; uname -a; does | egrep -i 'blue|firm' ; lsusb; sudo rfkill list

Ahhh, dmesg, that makes sense!! I figured it was an autocomplete issue or something. Here's the output:

Bump...

Did the latest info help at all? The bottom line of the output does look problematic:

[ 937.399082] init: bluetooth main process ended, respawning

Thanks again for your help!
