Audio jitterry with bluetooth headset

Asked by x19x

Hi,

I have Rocketfish bluetooth headset (http://www.rocketfishproducts.com/products/mobile-phones-gps/RF-MAB2.html).
When I play audio in my Ubuntu12.04 64bit PC, sound is very jittery. It works fine with other devices (mobile, ipod).

My PC config is Intel Q6600, Asus P5Q-C with external bluetooth adapter.

I need some poniters to debug this issue, so as to where to look first.

I see following in syslog when I start playback in PC -
Apr 21 02:37:42 mickeyRIG bluetoothd[849]: Badly formated or unrecognized command: AT+CSRSF=1,1,1,1,1,7
Apr 21 02:37:49 mickeyRIG kernel: [56236.054515] input: 00:18:16:05:B7:2C as /devices/virtual/input/input15

Apr 21 02:38:05 mickeyRIG kernel: [56252.064375] Bluetooth: hci0 SCO packet for unknown connection handle 0

.... lots of messages like "unknown connection handle" which comes when playback is started.

Regards
Ubuntu user

Otherway round it works absolutely fine i.e. I played music in my mobile phone, pair with PC and music plays fine in speakers connected to PC. Which means that bluetooth adapter is working fine.

I installed "Bluetooth Manager" from Ubuntu Software Center, and jitter reduces considerably.
Though there are still some glitches (once in 4-5minutes of playback) but now audio is acceptable.
Earlier jitter was very irritating (continuous distortion of audio).

(Additionaly connecting to BT devices has become very reliable i.e. it connects in first request)

I need to check what "Bluetooth Manager" adds which improves bluetooth audio perfomance considerably.
But this thread can be considered resolved now as audio quality is acceptable.
