my bluetooth is not working ...

hi all ,
i m new to ubuntu ...
i have a sony vaio laptop (vpceh18fg),
when i turn on the bluetooth from hardware key it shows that the bluetooth is on , but i cannot see anything , on the top right corner of desktop it shows that blutooth is on , but when i click preferences it says , bluetooth is disabled ....
plz help ..

bluetooth works fine with windows 7 , but it doesnt works with ubuntu 11.10 ...

yes bluez is already installed ... but i cannot see bluez from dash .... i can see bluewho , bluetooth manager and bluetooth ...
