How do I install a bluetooth GPS for Foxtrot?

Asked by Charles H Specht

I bought a Mobilemate 866 GPS bluetooth receiver to use with my VIEWPAD 10 running UBUNTU 11.
The system recognizes the device and links to it. During the process it asks if I want to use this device for geolocation services. Of course, I said yes. When I start Foxtrot, it doesn't see it. I'm probably missing a step somewhere, but my unix experience is about twenty years old.
After scratching some of the rust off my brain, I seem to remember something about setting up a "getty" but no more info is forthcoming.
