New to Launchpad, trying to install blas package

Asked by Jose E. Chavez

I am trying to install the blas package onto Ubuntu 14.04. I need the package as a dependency to deeplearning4j.
When running command, I get error:

jchavez@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install blas
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package blas

It looks like I have to add Launchpad as a PPA?

I saw this webpage, but I need to know which PPA to add to install blas?
https://help.launchpad.net/Packaging/PPA/InstallingSoftware

Please help. Thank you.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ppas?name_filter=blas

There may be one there. Remeber to filter for Trusty in each page. Once you see blas, add the PPA.

There is no binary package named "blas" in Ubuntu, only a source package with binaries like libblas3 and libblas-dev

http://deeplearning4j.org/gettingstarted.html refers to Jblas. so maybe the package(s) that you need are

sudo apt-get install jblas
and/or
sudo apt-get install libblas-dev

Can you help with this problem?
