What is ubuntu Beryl?

Two days ago I made the switch to Ubuntu, but I have no idea what beryl is, is it an add on and how would I do it. please give a step by step procedure of this.

            ps. do I have the whole setup like the one for ubuntu involving a live cd and useing that.

The question is wrong lol ;)
It should be what WAS beryl?
As i understand it (which i don't) the answer is
Beryl was what Compiz is today.

I think it's all the extreme desktop effects, the spinning cube of desktops and fire writing straight over the desktop and all that. Wobbly windows freaked my flatmate out and i can't wait to see his face now i've discovered fire writing :)))
