Please tell us something more.... Do you get some errors or warnings using Amarok or Beep....?

Please run them from terminal to get more informative messages...

Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type or better copy and paste:

amarok

and/or

beep-media-player-2

Thank you

I think your issue are due you are using root user...

Why you use your system as root user...?

Please try to run as unprivileged user...

Thank you

Now might be some files permissions are not set well...

Try to reinstall amarok from terminal...

sudo apt-get --reinstall --purge amarok

Then retry

Do you have played with apparmor ... or may be using root something was set in a wrong way, with no permission with oter users ?

If so, may be the answer is there...

You can try to remove amarok and beep profile from apparmor

Hope this helps
