Offline installation

Asked by Sue Maurizio

Hi,
as far as I know, this package requires an active connection to be installed (some wget calls are made during installation); this makes it difficult to install it when the only connection means is the wireless card that is being enabled. Is it possible to include the required files in the package to allow offline installation?
Thanks,
Sue

sure you can use a system which has a onnection to download the debs, you can tell apt-get to only download the packages or simply use:

http://packages.ubuntu.com

to pull down what you need. There is program called aptoncd which will make a nice ISO for you to burn / transfer via USB but its essentially a pretty gui for the contents of /var/cache/apt/archives which you can copy the debs from.

I suggest you use the debs and such to get a web connection, then install the rest via the connection

Sorry, I just realized I made a stupid question... My problem was about the wget calls to openwrt.org, that probably regard files that cannot be distributed in the installation CD due to copyright issues. Thanks anyway for your prompt response.
