is there a reason for the bbmap 'resources' directory not being included in the package?

Asked by Aaron Dickey

When downloading bbmap from the official sourceforge site (https://sourceforge.net/projects/bbmap/), a directory, ./bbmap/resources/, is present. Is there a reason for this folder being excluded from the ubuntu package?

The version numbers of bbmap in Ubuntu (e.g. 39.01+dfsg-2) do not contain the string "ubuntu". This means that the package was copied from Debian without Ubuntu-specific modification. As far as I can see also the Debian package does not contain that directory.

I suggest that you contact Debian to have that directory included, and as soon as Debian has implemented that change, Ubuntu will follow suit for Ubuntu's development version.

Follow-up. I learned from Debian that the files in the Resources folder are all in the zip archive called /usr/share/java/bbmap.jar and that this had been done as a solution to "bug #995406[1] which was closed in bbmap 38.94+dfsg-1".
