Can Someone Please Just Tell my Why My Music wont Play...

Asked by NijatXJ07

So a lot of people up here mention at some point actually having Rhythmbox playback their music. I am running off of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS and my music has never played since it first recognized my iPod. Is there anything I need to do? I have downloaded Banshee, it doesnt recognize my iPod. I also tried gtkpod, but it also doesnt play there either. I downloaded the GStreamer extra plugins thinking that would help but nothing.

I dont need a lot of computer jargon, and just telling me to download something will not help me. I need steps please. I am in no way computer savey and I am tired of reading through loads of questions trying to save you all the trouble of answering yet again the same problem.

Thanks for all your hard work! I really appreciate it.

Open a terminal and type in:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
And then reboot and check.

I am having a similiar problem with the movie player that comes with Ubuntu. I get a message saying "cannot find location" when i insert a music cd. I used terminal for restricted extras and it didn't work.
