Banshee media player/Nokia X6 sync problem.
I have managed to get Banshee to recognise my Nokia X6 by adding .is_audio_player to the root directory in its mass memory enabling me to view the music files on the phone but when I try to sync OR delete music files, after going through the motions & looking like it's doing said tasks, I get error messages basically telling me that it thinks my phone's mass memory is a read only file which clearly it isn't because I have no problem dragging & dropping files into my phone from my Home/Music folder. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Hi,
As Banshee is the player I use, which has great DAP support, I wanted it to see my phone as a DAP (well it should, it’s a music phone). There were two ways:
Teach HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) that the phone is a DAP; very hard — humans are smarter: so is Banshee
Create a .is_audio_player file inside the root directory of the Mass Storage Device — my phone.
Then you need to add a few lines into the file:
audio_
folder_depth=2
output_
Now you can start Banshee and sync up the phone. Great!
Sorry to have to say this made it worse. What I already had in the .is_audio_player file was this...
audio_folders=Music
output_
which gave me the level of function I referred to in my original question, adding the 'folder_depth=2' line stopped Banshee even giving me the option to delete music from the phone & would not accept any music I dragged to the phone, at least before, as I mentioned, it went through the motions of adding or deleting music files before giving me the error message. Also, after adding the 'folder depth=2' line, the phone's mass memory locked into read only mode & I had to disconnect the phone & delete the .is audio player file via my phone's touch screen. Thanx for trying!

Hello, I have not forgotten, just that the instructions I gave you worked many times. I'm looking for. While could you tell me what version of Banshee are you using? thanks
Hello! Many thanks for your help Massimo. My version of Banshee is 2.0.1 which I think is the latest version bundled with Ubuntu 11.04.
