Scheduled backup if PC switched off

Asked by Colin Law

Running backintime 1.12 from the ppa on Ubuntu 14.04 I have specified a schedule of Every Week, Sunday, 00:00. I am sure I read somewhere that if the PC is not switched on at this time that it will run a backup when it is next switched on. This does not appear to be happening. Am I mistaken in what I thought should happen? Cron is functioning as I have other cron jobs that operate as expected.

@actionparsnip Do you mean that I was wrong in thinking that it would run on next boot?

Please use schedule 'Repeadetly (anacron)' with period set to weekly

Ah, right, I was half right. It will do what I thought, but only if I select the right option. Many thanks.

Correct. 'Every week' will ONLY run at that specific time. If your machine is turned off at that time it won't run. Only the 'Repeatedly (anacron)' schedule will run it as soon as the machine is on again.
