The b43 driver (present by default) supports your 4311 chip, but it is being suppressed by the Broadcom STA driver (wl), which has had problems reported since 11.04. The b43 driver also needs you to add the firmware for the chip, which is available in either of two packages.
1) Deactivate the Broadcom STA driver.
2)Check that the exact line "blacklist b43" is not present in any file in /etc/modprobe.d
3)From a wired connection, add the Broadcom firmware by installing the package b43-fwcutter, and accept the offer to download the Broadcom files.
Note, you can even use the open source firmware by installing the package firmware-b43-installer, but unfortunately in 11.10, that will add a minute to your shutdown (bug filed).
The wireless should start working, reboot if not.

For everyone's convenience, the bug filed by Ubfan for the b43 firmware is bug 879120. (Thx Ubfan!)
