Your 4306 chip is well supported by the b43legacy driver, all it needs is for you to install the firmware.
The proprietary Broadcom firmware is installed by installing the b43-fwcutter package and accepting the download offer:
In a terminal type:
sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter

Or you can even use the open source firmware by installing the firmware-b43-installer package
The proprietary Broadcom driver you installed/activated has had problems since 11.04, and may not work, but you will have to get rid of it to make use of the b43legacy driver -- deactivate/purge/remove completely the Broadcom STA driver you installed. Check the files in /etc/modprobe.d for the exact line "blacklist b43legacy" and delete any that still exist after removing the Broadcom STA package. Remove the install wl ... line if it still exists in any file.
Wireless should start working for you.
