Getting nowhere with 'axel' downloader

 I have installed 'axel' on my computer (11.04) but I am unable to get it to download anything at all. All I get back is "unsupported site". So, i am doing something wrong or going to the wrong sites. I was wondering if somebody could advise me as to what I'm doing wrong, the right sites to try.

The latest changelog is from 29 Apr 2009. User ml also doesn't look very frequented. Maybe have a look at bug reports.
