Would it be possible to get the cosmic/sid version of 1.15.15-1 into bionic-updates?

Version 1.15.15 includes support for Secrets Manager (although the package description fails to mention it) which is rather useful. It would be nice to have it available in bionic for cloud deployments.

I suggest you report a bug. If the bug and security fixes are significant then the package will be updated sooner rather than later

Ubuntu is not a rolling release distribution and packages can get left in favour of stability. This is especially true in the LTS releases.
