Can I have AWN + Desktop Cube

Asked by Nate on 2008-06-12

I have installed Avant Window Navigator (AWN) on my computer, so now I have a 'dock,' and I would like to enable the desktop cube effect. I cannot find the way to navigate to the 'advanced desktop settings' choice as I could before, and fear that I have lost the Desktop Cube effect...is there a way to bring back the desktop cube AND use AWN?

Hello nate:

navigate your way to “System > Preferences > Advanced Desktop Effects Settings”. Click on “General Options” at the top of the list and select the “Desktop Size” tab. The first slider on that tab is for “Horizontal Virtual Size”. Change this from two to four and close the window. You should now have four desktop panes for use with a cube v/s the two desktop panes as default.

Also, on a follow up, I just wanted to say that I had installed AWN over my GNOME desktop effects settings. I had lost the "Advanced Desktop Settings" tab. I typed in ccsm into a terminal window and got an instruction on what to type in to install the desktop cube settings manager. I typed:

  sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

and then it installed and I got my menu back.

Apparently I don't have an "Advanced Desktop Effects Settings"... I already got ccsm installed... I'm struggling to get the Desktop Cube
