awn for gutsy

i had some problems before when i used awn. i now have gutsy and have tweaked my system the way i like it, although it took quite some time. i don't want to make a mistake with awn, so, i need to install awn for gutsy; and need some genuine instructions on doing so. can some one help?

when i run /etc/apt/sources.list permission is denied.
when i throw in sudo /etc/apt/sources.list command not found
