new edition menu line

Asked by newmusic

Having just upgraded my operating system, I now have a new look Audacious.

I pressed some button that took away all the menu buttons and cannot for the life of me restore it. How does one do this? I want to change the view back to what I had but have no idea how.

Right-clicking does not bring up the preferences menu - ctrl-P does. Its been awhile since ive used keyboard shortcuts - i'm sure other users also struggle - can this be rectified.

This might have been posted - skins were easier to use and set in the preferences. Could this be reincluded.

Where is the old blue interface - I liked the old interface - how can I change it back.

a winamp classic interface is great if you have used it. I have never used winamp so do not know the commands, shortcuts etc.

I somehow removed the menu an would like it back.

I would like to be able to apply the old skin without going through the file system to access it.

I would like to access the preferences through the right-click.

I have tried uninstalling through synaptic, then reinstalling but cannot get the old blue interface back.

I guess I would like full controlover what I do and what it looks like. I do not have time to go and look in /usr/apps/share/small problem/big problem/cant andwer your qwuestion/ i dont really care/audacios/ skins/interface yada yada etc.

The old interface worked well - please help me to find out how the new one works as I am struggling.

Thank You

I apologize -- I thought the Winamp Classic Interface was the interface you wanted to bring back.

Do you know what version audacious you were previously using?

And what version are you using now?

What version of Ubuntu are you running?

Do you know what version of Ubuntu you were using previously? Was it 8.04? 9.10?

According to https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/audacious, audacious is at 1.5.0-2 in Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. You can probably install that version in Lucid, either by building it from source, or by installing the old package. If you want to do that, and you want help, please post again. On the other hand...

"The old interface worked well - please help me to find out how the new one works as I am struggling."

...if you want help using the new version, please indicate what it is that you need help doing.

I want to restore the menu line - I did something and there is now no file, edit, view, tools etc menu line.

Secondly I would like to run it under the old skin and need help configuring - It might be under the menu line somewhere.

Thirdly a help file would be great with all the commands etc.

Thanks

"I want to restore the menu line - I did something and there is now no file, edit, view, tools etc menu line."

To restore the menu, press Shift+Ctrl+M.

Sorry, I should have provided that information in my first post.

"Secondly I would like to run it under the old skin and need help configuring - It might be under the menu line somewhere."

Here's some info on changing the skins in audacious2:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=604308

Like people say in the forum, you should not change the permissions on folders like /etc and /usr.

"Thirdly a help file would be great with all the commands etc."

Having restored the menu bar, you can see what keyboard shortcuts for each action by browsing through the menus. You may also find useful information at http://audacious-media-player.org/ and http://boards.audacious-media-player.org/. If you're interested in audacious's invocation syntax (i.e. how to give it information when you first run it, be that through a launcher, the Alt+F2 menu, the Terminal, or a script), you can view its manual page in one of three ways:

(1) To view it in the Terminal, run the command "man audacious" (without the quotes).
(2) To view it in the help browser, press Alt+F2, type in "yelp man:audacious".
(3) To view it online, see http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/lucid/en/man1/audacious.1.html if you're running Ubuntu 10.04, or see http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/maverick/en/man1/audacious.1.html if you're running Ubuntu 10.10.

If none of that is what you're looking for (or you need additional help restoring the menu or skinning audacious), please feel free to post again.

Great success - yes. I did not want to change to another player. Thank you for the time and patience in answering the queries - I hope this will be helpful to others too.

Thank you.
