Armadillo version for PrecisePangolin

Asked by Fox

Hi,

newbie here so please be patient ;-)

I have seen that the current armadillo package is 6.7 (1:6.700.3+dfsg-1) but when I type
'dpkg -s libarmadillo-dev' it comes out Version:1:2.4.2+dfsg-2.

I tried 'apt-get upgrade --dry-run' but armadillo update is not there.

I am doing something completely wrong?
How shall I update?

Some months ago, when I installed, I followed http://www.uio.no/studier/emner/matnat/fys/FYS4411/v13/guides/installing-armadillo/

Thanks a lot!

Look at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/armadillo and you will see that for Precise only version 2.4.2 is available in the standard Ubuntu repositories. 6.7 is only available as work in progress for Ubuntu 16.10 which is currently in development.

If you want version 6.7 on precise, you have to use other sources.

There are some PPAs with updated version s for precise, see https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ppas?name_filter=armadillo
Or you can try building the package from source.

Can you help with this problem?
