Is aptitude not included in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS by default?

Asked by Juan Karlo de Guzman on 2016-04-26

Hello,

I have a new server installation of Ubuntu 16.04 and I was just wondering when I ran aptitude update it says command not found. I'm guessing aptitude is no longer included by default?

I read an article that aptitude is much better than apt-get. Should I use apt-get or just apt?

Thanks.

Not by default, it can be installed if you like it. There is no issue with using it interchangeably with apt-get or software-centre.

It's not better, if it was better then it would replace apt-get. It used to be included but it makes no sense to have two package applications on the ISO. This saves space.

Can you help with this problem?
