What is the issue (except that you don't know your own password)?

I have no problems with my password. My problem is that I ran
the commands from the terminal as suggested and I sent in the
results for an examination of my problem.

Each time I attempt to install anything in Ubuntu I get a message
which states "An error occurred while loading the archive" It is
quite road block to using the system.

I need help ASAP.

When you are asked for your password, type the password you log in with. You set that when you setup the OS.

Ok, looks fine. Run:

The command you gave me ran just fine, however when I attempted
to do an update it said: "Failed to download repository information."
check your internet connection.

When I attempted to open a file that I had downloaded before the
same message popped up: "An error occurred while loading the
archive."

What should I do next??

Latest update: My Software center had disappeared, when I attempt yo open it it
flickers for a moment then it just disappears on its own. There are no thumbs.

Next I got this message: "Sorry Ubuntu has experienced an internal error."
If you notice further problems try restarting the computer.

I have just restarted it.

I suggest that you repeat running the package management troubleshooting procedure and paste the output as a new response.
The results from your first attempt are useless due to the "wrong password" issues.

Here is what I have done; I inserted the CD from which I did the
reinstall and nothing happened. After clicking on several different
things I took it out. However as soon as I took it out a box popped
up telling me that the computer needed to be updated. After entering
my password it took the next 10 -15 minutes doing an upgrade. So
far my Software Center is back and I will be doing a check to see if
I can install anything with the present configuration.

Ok, now somw errors in your sources.list package management configuration file are visible:

1. The DVD that you used when installing the system is still defined as a spurce, although the DVD has been ejected.
2. Some references to "archiveziphos Bible Guide" do not contain the complete URL and are flagged as wrong.

I suggest the following action for correction:

Issue the command
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
In the editor that opens (after providing your password as confirmation for an administrative action) do the following changes:

In the first line insert a hash sign and a space at the beginning, changing it
from
deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS _Xenial ...
into
# deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS _Xenial ...

Furthermore scroll down to the end of the file and remove the last two lines (those containing archiveziphos Bible Guide)

Then save the file and close the editor.

And finally verify with the command

sudo apt-get update

whether there are still warnings and/or error messages.

Hey Manfred:

After doing all that you stated I opened the software updater which
ran for a while then a message appeared that the software on this
computer was up to date.

Next I attempted to open some 3rd party software that I had downloaded
previously and the same error message appeared. "An error occurred
while loading the Archive." These are software that I had gotten because
they were supposed to be built to work on Ubuntu OS.

I would say bit by bit the computer is getting better. just not as yet.

What is the name of the file with that third party software?
What is the full text of the message that you receive when you try installing/using it?

Hey Manfred;

Here is the software that I have been trying to install;
Bulk mailer; The Website is: Bulkmailerpro.com

The full text of the message reads "An error occurred while loading the
Archive."

This is the only remaining error message that I am seeing as of now.

The only software that I find on that page is for Windows.
Are you sure that a version for installing on Ubuntu does exist?

Hey Manfred;

this is all new to me as I questioned the sources who informed
me that it was designed to run on Linux What you are telling me
is news to me.

What I will do then is conduct some more research and find something
that will work on Ubuntu.

Thank you for all your effort and time I am indebted to you.

Maybe a version for Linux is existing, but the only file to download http://download.bulkmailerpro.com/mailer_setup.exe that I found there is definitely a version for Windows only. (This program eventually may run with the wine emulator on Ubuntu, but I did not find any information about that.)

Hello Manfred;

I am trying to configure Thunderbird to work with Amazon SES but so far
it is not working. After setting up everything I keep getting this message:

unable to locate mail spool file

Any Suggestions on what to do next?

Sorry, no idea.
I suggest that you do a web search for "setup thunderbird amazon ses" or for your error message "thunderbird unable to locate mail spool file" There are thousands of hits, hopefully one of the pages will help.
