Update Manager, Error message

Hi

Regarding the Update Manager I've a question.

If I press the Check button I'll get a small window called "Downloading the package information". After this somethimes I get the following error message:

E: The package cache file is corrupted

E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

The update works and I can install needed files. What do I have to do to solve this problem? Thanks a lot.

yup its a bug in ubuntu

Please go through the comments and try few workarounds suggested there and if the problem still persists please feel free to add a comment and subscribe to the bug so that you can track it.
