Error getting kernel sources with apt-get

Asked by Uresh Vahalia

I have installed ubuntu desktop 16.04 on a VM and am trying to get the kernel sources with apt-get.
    I get the following error:

> apt-get source linux-image-$(uname -r)
Reading package lists... Done
E: You must put some 'source' URIs in your sources.list

I tried to edit the sources.list file but that did not help. Below is the content of my /etc/apt/sources.list. What else can I try?

deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 16.04 LTS _Xenial Xerus_ - Release amd64 (20160420.1)]/ xenial main restricted
