Apt-get package list problem; " E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened."
Thank you in advance; there is a lot to go through here.
Some notes:
1. Yes, I have a lot of PPAs. The problem did not go away when I disabled them, however.
2. I don't use a proxy.
3. The Duplicate sources list warning appeared the SECOND time I ran the series of commands here: https:/
4. Note the response for the command 'cat /etc/apt/apt.conf' = 'cat: /etc/apt/apt.conf: No such file or directory'
I don't know if this is the problem, or if it is, how to fix it.
5. Yesterday, after (foolishly) enabling the "Proposed" repository, I used the procedure here: http://
6 Towards the bottom of this output, I included the commands run in question 246884, up to the point at the end of the question where the questioner restored from a backup. (I didn't restore, again, not sure how).
