cannot open .chm files in hh.exe with .mht extension

I am running linux mint 16, wine 1.7. I have a number of text books in .chm format. some have the chapters as .html extension and these open fine in all the different chm readers in linux (and android). But some have the .mht exension and i can't open these in anything other than windows.
 hh.exe in wine fails to open .mht files. i did manage to get the .mht files to open previously in wine on another computer (ubuntu 13.10 wine 1.7) by randomly adding packages from synaptic package manager but now i can't seem to replicate this on the linux mint OS. I don't think the OS is the problem, I think there is a library that the wine needs to open .mht files but I don't know what it is. help please

Linux Mint is not supported here or in any of the ubuntu support channels. It's support is entirely separate from Ubuntu's. I suggest you post here :
